Puppet Show: Who Made This Song Anyway?

We were all movin' and groovin' to our puppet show we call The Pirate Ship. It's great fun and usually the highlight of the class time for the kids. One curious student asked me, "Who made this song anyway?"

The composer is Johannes Brahams and the title of the piece is Hungarian Dance No. 5.

So there you go you little cutie!

Doing puppet shows to classical music is our way of teaching classical form, tonalities, and themes. The children experience the music and characters as they move the puppets to the music and "act" out each part. Lots and lots of experiencing here allows the child to fully understand these concepts (and many others) of classical music.
